My first taste of icewine was just a few days ago, as I sat in a restaurant overlooking Niagara Falls.  The restaurant sold it by the ounce.  It’s very sweet, so it’s perfect for a dessert wine.  Just the name alone makes me feel like I’m tasting a bit of history.  Sipping it while gazing out at one of the wonders of the world made the moment even sweeter.

First time in years that I made my own cake.  Well it’s from a box cake, but it’s a black velvet cake with some sort of cream cheese frosting.  I even used my heart-shaped cake pans for the occasion.

It had expired back in December, so I’m wondering if that’s why it wound up being more condensed like a brownie, rather than a cake.  Oh well, it still tasted good, even if it looked lame and was on a Christmas plate.
